Dan has an accomplished record of public service in San Luis Obispo, where he has lived for more than a decade.
Since graduating from Cal Poly he chaired the Chamber of Commerce Sustainability and Resource committee and participated as a member of the Climate Action Plan group. He currently serves on the Economic Development committee as well as the Land Use Circulation Element update task force. He is the Co-Chair of the County Health Department’s Injury Prevention Coalition and also serves as a member of the Downtown Association Parking and Access committee, the Healthy Eating Active Living Coalition, and the Safe Routes to School Regional Task Force.
While still in college, he worked extensively with the Student Life and Leadership department helping coordinate days of service, campus discourse discussions, and homelessness awareness events. He graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with minors in Women's Studies and Religious Studies.
In his role at the Bicycle Coalition, Dan is driven by the organization’s mission to improve the quality of life on the Central Coast through bicycle advocacy, education, and inspiration. His passion for the cause revolves around working to empower members of the public to feel safe enough to ride more often. He teaches assemblies to students at local schools, provides workshops for employees at local businesses, and leads parades for families to practice riding around town.
